So happy you’re here! This is me…the creator behind Happy Humble Haven! I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Ryan, and a mom to four very sweet boys who range in age from 18 down to 7! I’m also a big sis to two younger brothers and the daughter to an amazing set of parents. Finally, and most importantly, I’m a child of God, and, although my faith is very imperfect, I strive to live out my days honoring Him.
A Little Background…
I am a dental hygienist, by degree, which I really enjoyed while I actively worked in my profession. However, I have been a SAHM exclusively for 18+ years, and that’s where I thrive and what brings me the most joy! This time at home has taught me so much and allowed me to realize my passion for striving to create a happy and healthy home for my family.
Whether working in or out of the home (or both!), there is always the desire and hunger to learn. I love the sayings “bloom where you are planted” and “whatever you choose to do…do it well.” I have always strived to apply those principles to my life regardless of the situation. But this has also confirmed for me the learning in life never really ends…
For me, this has meant taking the simplest of tasks around the home and completing them in the best way I know or can learn how. Once my husband and I started our family, and our little men began entering our lives, I became more aware of the environment around them. They came into the world with a clean slate…so pure! For me, it lit a fire to preserve that and give them the best beginning possible.
I quickly realized there are many factors that can’t be controlled, however, there are so many that can! I began researching everything from the foods I put in front of my boys to the cleaners I mopped the floor with that their soft little hands would touch while crawling around on the floor. You know…the same little hands that would become teethers only moments later?!
There were things I took for granted and began to question like the air we breathe (what’s in it?) and that perfectly starched look to a new piece of clothing (…but what causes that?), or the waxy coating on every cucumber I came across?! It was all very eye-opening, and the drastic changes around my home began toward a more natural way of life.
My goal now is to create a home as chemical-free as possible in all aspects. These days, I am much more mindful of things like the cleaners in our home, the food we eat, and the clothes and personal care products we use on our bodies.
Why This Blog?
My purpose in creating this site is to share my passion for this and anything I have learned along the way in hopes it will simplify life for you, too! I’m the first to admit that life gets messy and chaotic in the “day to day” of raising a family and running a household. It can be discouraging, overwhelming, and totally exhausting! However, these are also the most beautiful, fulfilling, and joyful days of our lives, and that should not be lost
I included the word “humble” in my blog
I think sharing the journey with friends is crucial to our survival, and it is true when said that it takes a village! I hope you will visit me often, and I vow to do my very best to bring you meaningful, inspiring, and helpful information as we journey together toward a simpler, more joyful, and natural way of life! Pull up a chair, grab your favorite cuppa something, and stick around!
